About Jennifer

Jennifer Dean trained first as a student of human behavior and communication. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a law emphasis and a second major in Communication from the University of California, Davis in 2007. She then attended Washington and Lee University School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2012. Those academic choices set a practical tone for a career that sits at the intersection of law and people.

Her early professional affiliations began soon after law school. She joined the Roanoke Bar Association in 2012 and became a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association a year later. In 2014 she accepted appointments to two Virginia State Bar special committees: the Special Committee on Access to Legal Services and the Special Committee on Technology and the Practice of Law. That same year she took on a leadership role closer to home as president of the Roanoke Chapter of the Virginia Women Lawyers Association, a position she continues to hold.

The committee work signals two recurring interests in Dean’s practice: improving how people obtain legal help, and how lawyers use technology to serve clients. On the Access to Legal Services committee she has been involved in conversations about reducing barriers to representation. On the Technology and Practice committee she has helped address how new tools affect casework, client communication and firm workflow. She approaches those subjects from the vantage of a practitioner rather than a policy theorist; her contributions are grounded in courtroom and office realities.

Her membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association aligns with the subject matter of her private practice. At Grace Immigration PLLC she works on immigration matters and related administrative processes. The combination of association work and private practice keeps her engaged in both individual client issues and broader professional concerns.

Colleagues describe Dean as methodical and matter-of-fact in the way she handles cases. She favors clear explanations for clients and steady, procedural progress through complex filings. Her legal education and early career choices inform a practice that balances attention to individual client stories with the procedural demands of immigration law.

Outside the office she has maintained an active role in local legal organizations. Her long service as president of the Roanoke Chapter of the Virginia Women Lawyers Association underscores an interest in sustaining professional networks and mentoring newer lawyers in the region.

She is licensed to practice in Virginia and continues to operate out of Grace Immigration PLLC. Her current practice concentrates on immigration matters and the practical use of technology to deliver legal services effectively.
