About Jennifer C
Jennifer C Watkins built her legal foundation in the classroom. She earned a B.S. from Queens University in 1994 and completed her J.D. at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 1999. Those years framed her interest in criminal justice and victim advocacy and set the stage for the career that followed.
Her first work in the field came soon after law school. In 1997 she served as a victim advocate at Women in Crisis and within the Jefferson County Colorado District Attorney’s Office. That role placed her at the intersection of legal process and community support. She moved into public defense in 2000, working for the Colorado Office of the Public Defender. There she handled client representation in court and learned the rhythms of trial practice. In 2001 she opened Watkins Law Office and began private practice.
The arc of her career crosses several perspectives in the criminal system. She has experience both representing people accused of crimes and supporting victims of crime. Those different vantage points inform how she approaches cases in court and at the negotiating table. Her background includes courtroom appearances, client counseling, pretrial hearings, and plea discussions. She is a member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and the Boulder County Bar Association and is licensed to practice in Colorado.
Colleagues and clients describe her work in practical terms. She handles criminal matters at various levels. Her trial experience from the public defender’s office carried over into her private practice. That experience translates into case preparation, evidence review, and adverse witness examination during hearings and trials. At the same time, her earlier role as a victim advocate shapes how she addresses sensitive issues and communicates with victims, witnesses, and families.
Watkins runs Watkins Law Office LLC. She accepts matters that require court representation and counsel through the criminal process, including pretrial work and trial litigation. Her practice is grounded in courtroom experience and in the procedural realities of Colorado criminal law. She continues to practice in Colorado at Watkins Law Office LLC, concentrating on criminal defense matters in state courts.
