About Jennifer Adrienne
Jennifer Adrienne Nielsen earned a law degree from Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law in 2012, after completing a master’s degree in comparative religious studies there in 2007 and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Stetson University in 1999. She arrived at law school after several years of academic study and a background in education and the humanities. That mix of training informs how she approaches legal problems: methodical, attentive to detail and aware of the human issues that underlie many disputes.
Her legal career began in private practice. In 2013 she served of counsel at The Law Office of Spater & Davis-Williams. A year later she opened Nielsen Law, LLC, where she is owner and managing lawyer. She has admitted practices in Ohio and in the federal circuit courts that handle appeals. Over the years she has combined courtroom work with negotiated resolutions, bringing together litigation and alternative dispute processes.
Nielsen has pursued formal training in dispute resolution. She completed an alternative dispute resolution program at Ohio State’s Moritz College of Law and holds a certification in collaborative divorce from the Central Ohio Association of Collaborative Divorce Professionals. Those credentials reflect an interest in resolving family conflicts outside of protracted litigation when circumstances allow.
Her association work runs through much of her career. She has been a member of the Columbus Bar Association since 2013 and joined the Ohio State Bar Association in 2014. She served on the board of the Central Ohio Association of Collaborative Divorce Professionals from 2013 to 2018 and remains a member of that organization. Nielsen also served on the board of the Buckeye Region Anti-Violence Organization (BRAVO Ohio) from 2013 to 2018. She held memberships in the Ohio Association for Justice, the Association of Family & Conciliation Courts, and the American Association for Justice during the mid-2010s.
In practice Nielsen handles family law matters and related civil issues. Her work blends negotiation, mediation and, where necessary, litigation. Clients encounter her in settlement meetings, collaborative sessions and court proceedings. She draws on her training in collaborative divorce and ADR when parties seek alternatives to traditional contested hearings.
Colleagues describe her approach as practical and process-oriented. She balances advocacy in court with efforts to limit cost and stress through negotiated solutions when those options are available. She currently practices family law and alternative dispute resolution at Nielsen Law, LLC.
