About Jennie
Jennie Bricker is an attorney who built a practice around land and water issues after more than a decade in a large law firm. She earned her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1997. Early training at the appellate level shaped her approach to complex legal questions and helped set the course for her career.
Fresh out of law school she served as a judicial clerk to Judge Otto R. Skopil on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1997. The clerkship exposed her to federal appellate procedure and opinions that touch on property and administrative law. That experience preceded her move into private practice and provided a foundation for litigation and regulatory work.
In 1999 she joined Stoel Rives LLP as a partner. During her time there she handled matters across land use, real estate and water law, representing clients in transactional and regulatory contexts. After many years at the firm she left to start her own practice in 2014, shifting from the structure of a large firm to a smaller, specialized practice model.
She launched Jennie Bricker Land & Water Law in 2014 and serves as its founding and principal attorney. The firm’s name reflects the kind of matters she takes on: water rights and related real estate and land use issues. Her work often involves advising landowners, developers and public entities on legal and administrative questions tied to water allocation, property interests and permitting.
Bricker is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington. Since 2015 she has been involved with the Real Estate and Land Use Section of the Oregon State Bar, serving as editor of the Real Estate and Land Use Digest. That editorial role places her at the intersection of practice and developments in state land use law, and it keeps her connected to the ongoing dialogue among practitioners and regulators.
Her career traces a clear line from appellate clerkship to partnership in a regional firm and then to an independent practice centered on land and water law. She maintains a private practice through Jennie Bricker Land & Water Law and concentrates on water law, land use and real estate matters.
