About Jeffrey Wrubel
Jeffrey Wrubel Cowan is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1992 and holds bar number 157474. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Cowan is the principal attorney at The Cowan Law Firm, located at 9301 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 609, Beverly Hills, CA 90210-6190. He has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout the Los Angeles area and beyond.
Mr. Cowan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating cum laude, from Cornell University in 1986. He then pursued his Juris Doctor at the UCLA School of Law, graduating in 1991. During his time at UCLA, he served as a teaching assistant for Professor Jonathan Varat in constitutional law and participated in the Moot Court Honors Program, which provided him with a solid foundation in legal research and appellate advocacy.
Mr. Cowan specializes in employment and business litigation. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in cases involving sexual harassment, whistleblower claims, workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, and wage and hour disputes. His business litigation practice encompasses matters such as business fraud, trade secret disputes, unfair competition, non-competition covenants, and commercial lease disputes. His work involves all stages of litigation, including case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Cowan has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he was a partner and associate at Kendig & Ross, an AV-rated boutique law firm in Century City, where he spent nine years practicing complex business litigation and employment law. Additionally, from 2001 through 2010, he successfully prosecuted criminal cases for the Ventura County District Attorney, the Los Angeles City Attorney, and the Inglewood City Attorney through the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Trial Advocacy Program.
Mr. Cowan is an active member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the California State Bar Association. He holds membership in the American Bar Association Section of Litigation. He has been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyer from 2007 through 2021. Mr. Cowan is also a certified mediator through the Los Angeles County Superior Court mediation program. He is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Los Angeles County effectively.
