About Jeffrey Scott
Jeffrey Scott Lasswell built a legal foundation over a steady stretch of study and service. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 1998, then completed a Juris Doctor at the University of Missouri–Columbia in 2001. Before law school he served in the United States Coast Guard and attained the rank of E-4 in 1992.
Early in his legal career Lasswell began engaging with professional organizations that reflected his interests. He joined the Civil Litigation and Tort Section of the American Bar Association in 2001 and became a member of the El Paso County Bar Association that same year. In 2002 he served as an El Paso County court-appointed lawyer, handling matters assigned by the local judiciary. He later joined the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association in 2006.
Those affiliations mirror the practical work that has occupied most of his practice. His participation in the ABA’s tort and civil litigation group points to regular involvement in contested civil matters. Serving as court-appointed counsel gave him courtroom exposure early on, while membership in a state trial lawyers association indicates ongoing contact with jury work and pretrial litigation strategies. The combination suggests a lawyer accustomed to case preparation, client representation in court, and the procedural demands of civil litigation.
Collegial ties have been a through line. Joining local and national bar groups helped him stay current on evolving litigation rules and connect with peers. They also placed him in forums where developments in negligence law, damages, and trial procedure are debated and studied. Those conversations often feed back into how he approaches individual cases, from gathering facts to assessing settlement options.
Lasswell practices in Colorado. He brings courtroom experience, bar association involvement, and prior public service as court-appointed counsel to his work. His practice centers on civil litigation and tort matters in Colorado courts.
