Prior to law school, he graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, earning a spot on the Dean's List. Before founding The Marquart Law Group in 2006, he was a partner at Smith & Marquart from 1998 to 2006 and at Kring & Brown from 1995 to 1998. He began his legal career as an associate at Alevizon Smith Susson & Palafox from 1990 to 1995 and at Spensley Horn Jubas & Lubitz from 1989 to 1990, specializing in patent litigation.

Mr. Marquart is an active member of the California State Bar and the Illinois State Bar. He is also a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association. He resides in Coto de Caza, California, with his wife, Lisa, and their three daughters, Katherine, Caroline, and Courtney. In his personal time, he enjoys mountain biking, ice hockey, and golf. He is also an automobile enthusiast and collector and is a staunch supporter of his alma mater, the University of Notre Dame.
