About Jeffrey P
Jeffrey P Guevin is a Vermont attorney who founded Otter Creek Law, PLLC in 2019. He built the firm after several years working in private practice and public service. He practices in state court and before the U.S. Tax Court, combining courtroom experience with transactional work.
He earned his J.D. from Vermont Law School in 2012. Before law school he completed both a Bachelor of Arts (2000) and a Master of Urban Affairs (2004) at Boston University. Those degrees shaped an early interest in public policy and community planning that later surfaced in his legal training.
Guevin began his post-law-school career as an associate at Pratt Vreeland Kennelly Martin & White, Ltd., joining the firm in 2012. During law school he worked as a judicial extern in the Vermont Superior Court, Environmental Division, gaining firsthand exposure to state environmental litigation. He also spent time in municipal government while interning at the City of Burlington City Lawyer’s Office in 2011, and served as a conservation stewardship intern with the Green Mountain Club the same year.
In 2019 he opened Otter Creek Law, PLLC. The firm handles estate planning and elder law matters, tax issues brought before the U.S. Tax Court, and related probate work. Memberships and local ties inform his practice. He has been active in the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, serving as president of the Vermont chapter and remaining engaged in the organization’s activities. He also holds memberships in the Rutland County Bar Association and the Vermont Bar Association. Outside the bar he has been involved in the Rotary Club of Rutland, serving as club president for 2019–2020.
Colleagues and clients describe Guevin as methodical in the way he approaches complex estate and tax questions. His background includes municipal and environmental law experience, which occasionally intersects with client matters involving land use or stewardship issues. He manages a small practice at Otter Creek Law and balances litigation and document drafting depending on client needs.
He currently practices from Otter Creek Law, PLLC, and his work centers on elder law, estate planning, probate administration and tax matters before the U.S. Tax Court.
