About Jeffrey A
Jeffrey A Rabin trained first as a journalist. He earned a Bachelor of Journalism in journalism and economics from the University of Missouri 63Columbia in 1977. Three years later he completed a juris doctor at DePaul College of Law, graduating in 1980. The combination of reporting and legal study shaped an approach to facts and narrative that has run through his career.
After law school Rabin entered practice during a period of significant change in litigation and appellate procedure. He gained courtroom experience and then moved into firm leadership. In 1988 he became the managing lawyer of Jeffrey A. Rabin & Associates, Ltd., a firm he has led since that year. The record shows long service in private practice rather than time on a judicial or academic bench.
Rabin is admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. That admission is one of the defining elements of his professional credentials and indicates regular involvement in federal appellate work. Over the years he has handled matters that reached higher courts and has worked on the written legal arguments those settings require. His earlier journalism training is evident in a direct writing style and attention to how facts will appear on the printed page and in oral argument.
Colleagues describe Rabins career as steady and focused on client representation across procedural stages. He has overseen litigation preparation, briefing and argument and has managed the practical tasks of running a small law firm. As managing lawyer he handled staffing decisions, case intake, and client communication while continuing to argue motions and appeals when required.
Outside the courtroom Rabins background in economics and journalism provides a frame for assessing damages, contracts and regulatory disputes. He keeps to a pragmatic view of outcomes and counsel. His work has been conducted primarily through his firm and in federal appellate settings.
Today Rabin practices through Jeffrey A. Rabin & Associates, Ltd., and continues to handle matters before the Seventh Circuit as well as related federal litigation. He currently handles appellate work and the trial-related tasks that support it in his ongoing practice.
