About Jeff
Jeff Luhrsen built his legal foundation through a steady course of academic and professional training. He earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies from the University of Tampa in 1990, a J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in 1993, and later completed an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy at Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2008. The sequence reflects an early interest in courtroom work that he augmented with advanced trial instruction.
After law school, Luhrsen entered military service as a judge advocate. In 1993 he served in a range of roles for the U.S. Army, including trial counsel, military magistrate, Article 32 hearing officer, and special assistant U.S. attorney to the Department of Justice. Those assignments exposed him to both criminal and administrative procedure and provided repeated courtroom experience under pressure.
Transitioning to civilian practice in the late 1990s, Luhrsen worked as a trial lawyer at Jodat & Luhrsen in 1998. He established the Luhrsen Law Group in 2000 and later became trial counsel and CEO of The Liquor Law Center, Chartered in 2016. Over the years he has moved between firm leadership and hands-on trial work, handling matters that range from administrative license proceedings to civil litigation tied to intoxication-related incidents.
Luhrsen maintains active professional memberships across several organizations. He has been a member of The Florida Bar since 1993 and joined the Virginia Bar in 1998. He holds membership in the American Bar Association and the Florida Justice Association, and is a Florida Bar Foundation fellow. Locally, he has been active in the Sarasota legal community and civic organizations, serving on the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce as a trustee and participating in the chamber’s leadership program. He has also served on the Florida Highway Patrol Advisory Board and chaired legislative committees for groups addressing substance abuse and impaired driving issues.
His practice draws on decades of courtroom work and administrative hearing experience. He handles liquor liability matters, DUI defense, license disputes, and civil suits that arise from alleged intoxication. Clients encounter him in county courthouses and regulatory hearings, where he applies trial procedures learned both in the military and in private practice.
Today Luhrsen divides his time between firm management and casework. He continues to represent clients in Sarasota-area liquor liability and DUI matters and remains involved in local bar and public safety efforts. He currently concentrates on liquor liability and DUI defense in Sarasota.
