About Jeb
Jeb Butler builds his practice on courtroom work and a steady climb through Georgia’s legal institutions. He arrived at law school after undergraduate study and earned his J.D. from the University of Georgia in 2008. The degree marked the start of a string of hands-on legal positions that shaped his approach to litigation.
Early in his career he combined public service and private practice experience. In 2007 he spent summers as an associate at Troutman Sanders and at Bondurant Mixson & Elmore, and served as a trial intern with the Western Circuit Public Defender’s Office. After law school he clerked in 2008 for the Hon. Lisa G. Wood in the Southern District of Georgia. The following year he moved into prosecutorial work, serving as a prosecutor in Clayton County in 2010.
By 2011 Butler had entered private practice as an associate at Butler Wooten & Fryhofer. Three years later he became a partner at Butler Tobin LLC in 2014. In 2019 he joined Butler Kahn as a partner, where he remains today. Those moves reflect a steady progression from entry-level roles to firm leadership, and they trace a career that crosses public and private litigation settings.
Throughout his career Butler has maintained involvement in professional groups. He served as chair of the Young Lawyers Committee for AIEG and holds committee membership in GTLA. He is also a member of the board of the Center for Auto Safety. Those affiliations have kept him engaged with peers and policy debates that touch on trial practice and safety regulation.
The mix of public defender internship, federal clerkship, prosecutorial work and long tenure in private firms gives Butler courtroom exposure on multiple fronts. He has practiced in Georgia courts at different levels and across a variety of matters, drawing on trial experience developed over more than a decade. Colleagues describe him as steady at trial and attentive to procedural detail.
Today he is a partner at Butler Kahn and practices in Georgia. His current practice centers on litigation and trial work in state and federal courts in Georgia.
