About Jeanette M
Jeanette M Durham earned her law degree from the University of Maine School of Law, completing the J.D. program in 2013 after beginning her studies in 2010. Her time in law school followed several years working in the public sector, and it laid the groundwork for a career centered on family law and domestic relations.
Her legal career began outside private practice. In 2004 she joined the Maine Department of Health and Human Services as a Child Support Enforcement Agent in the Division of Child Support Enforcement. That role placed her on the front lines of child support cases and offered a steady immersion in the procedural and practical aspects of family law long before she entered the bar.
After law school she worked as a lawyer at Fairfield & Associates, P.A., beginning in 2013. Two years later she launched Maine Family Law LLC and has served as owner and lawyer there since 2015. Building a small firm allowed her to manage a caseload across divorce, custody, and child support matters while maintaining direct client involvement in hearings and negotiations.
Durham has been active in professional circles related to family law. She joined the York Bar Association in 2015 and has maintained that membership. She has also held membership in family law sections since at least 2010 and 2013, and she took on a leadership role as secretary of a Family Law Section beginning in 2017. These roles have kept her connected to local practitioners and to developments in family law practice and procedure.
Colleagues describe Durham as thorough in case preparation and steady in court. She handles contested and uncontested divorces, custody disputes, child support enforcement and modification proceedings, and related family-law matters. Her background in child support enforcement informs how she approaches calculations, filings, and enforcement options, and she often draws on that experience when advising clients about practical outcomes and timelines.
She lives and works in Maine and practices from Maine Family Law LLC. She now focuses her practice on divorce, custody, and child support matters in Maine state courts.
