About Jean M.
Jean M. Jones pursued a varied academic path before entering the courtroom. She earned a B.S. from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 1972, followed by an M.S. from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 1979. She returned to the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law for her J.D., which she completed in 1983.
After law school she built a practice that spans both trial and appellate work. She is listed as a lawyer at Goldberg Finnegan and has long-standing ties to Maryland’s legal community. Over the years she has developed courtroom experience that shows in her memberships and the forums where she practices.
Her professional affiliations are broad. She holds memberships in the American Association of Nurse Lawyers and in national and state trial lawyer groups such as the American Association for Justice and the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association. She is a member of the Maryland State Bar and the District of Columbia State Bar. She also holds memberships connected to the federal judiciary, including the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and the District Court for the District of Columbia. Her affiliations extend to the appellate level as well; she belongs to the United States Courts of Appeal for the Second and Fourth Circuits and maintains a membership related to the United States Supreme Court.
Those memberships reflect both a courtroom orientation and an interest in cases that intersect health care and civil liability. Colleagues describe her work as steady and case-centered. She has handled matters that require careful development of medical and technical records, and she has pursued remedies through trial and appeal when cases demanded it. Her appellate memberships indicate experience beyond first-instance proceedings.
Jones has also been active in professional circles. She participates in continuing legal education and in group discussions that focus on litigation strategy, evidence, and medical-legal issues. Her presence in national and state bar networks has kept her connected to evolving practice principles and to peers across jurisdictions.
She works out of Goldberg Finnegan’s Silver Spring office. Her practice centers on civil litigation and medical-legal matters, handled at both the trial and appellate levels.
