About Jean Claude Bernard

Jean Claude Bernard Mallein built his legal foundation at Golden Gate University. He earned a J.D. and an M.B.A., both conferred in 2006, and went on to complete an LL.M. in Taxation in 2008. Those academic credentials sit behind a practice that combines tax law and estate work. The LL.M. added a technical layer to a background already shaped by graduate business studies.

Early in his career Mallein turned toward areas that require both technical precision and careful drafting. He became certified by the California State Bar as a specialist in Taxation Law. He also holds certification in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law. Those recognitions reflect specialized training and peer review rather than general practice labels. They guide the kinds of matters he accepts and the courtroom forums in which he appears.

Mallein is admitted to the bar in California and to practice before the United States Tax Court. He represents clients in transactional matters and dispute settings. On the transactional side he drafts and reviews estate plans, trust instruments and related tax-structure documents. On the controversy side he handles audits, notices of deficiency and litigation strategies when tax assessments are contested. He counsels executors, trustees and beneficiaries on duties, distributions and tax consequences arising from estates and trusts.

Colleagues describe his approach as methodical. He favors clear tax analysis and careful estate-document drafting. That emphasis shows in work that bridges family law concerns and federal tax rules. It also shapes client conversations; he aims to explain complex tax mechanics in plain terms and to map options that account for probate, income tax and transfer-tax issues.

Mallein has applied his training in settings that require familiarity with both federal tax procedure and California probate practice. His LL.M. in Taxation supports arguments about statutory interpretation and administrative practice before tax authorities. The estate-planning certification informs how he structures fiduciary arrangements and prepares for post-death administration.

He practices from an office associated with Syntero Group. There he handles planning, trust and probate administration, and tax controversy matters, including appearances before the United States Tax Court. He currently focuses his practice on estate planning, trust and probate matters and tax disputes.
