Jay P. Menchaca is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2000. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Menchaca is the principal attorney at Menchaca Law Offices, a law firm located in Gilroy, California. He has been practicing law for over 25 years, serving clients throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area and surrounding counties in Northern California.
Mr. Menchaca earned his Juris Doctor degree from the George Washington University Law School, where he graduated in 1998. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at San Antonio, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993. During his time at George Washington University, he developed a strong foundation in legal principles and practices.
Mr. Menchaca concentrates his practice in the areas of business law, construction law, and employment law. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving business contracts, business dissolution, business finance, business formation, business litigation, franchising, mergers and acquisitions, partnership and shareholder disputes, construction contracts, construction defects, construction liens, construction litigation, employee benefits, employment contracts, employment discrimination, ERISA, overtime and unpaid wages, sexual harassment, whistleblower claims, and wrongful termination. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout his career, Mr. Menchaca has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Santa Clara, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in San Jose for five years.
Mr. Menchaca is an active member of the California State Bar Association. He holds membership in the American Bar Association Section of Litigation. He is also a certified mediator through the Santa Clara County Superior Court mediation program. Mr. Menchaca is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of Northern California effectively.
