About Jay
Jay Moreland built his path to law from classrooms in Nashville. He studied at Vanderbilt University before earning a B.A. from Lipscomb University in 2007. He returned to Nashville for legal training and received his J.D. from Nashville School of Law in 2011.
After law school, Moreland moved into practice in Tennessee. He established Moreland Law Office in 2015 and has operated there since. Over the years he has handled cases that have taken him into courtrooms across the state. That work has shaped a pragmatic approach to litigation and client counseling.
Training has been an important part of Moreland’s professional development. He completed both the Trial College and the Advanced Trial College offered by the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Those programs strengthened his trial technique and exposed him to strategies used by criminal defense practitioners in Tennessee courts.
His courtroom work is informed by that trial training and by steady case experience. He has represented clients in matters that require testimony, evidence challenges and direct engagement with judges and juries. He approaches each matter with attention to procedure and an eye for what will matter most at trial.
Moreland keeps active in professional circles and maintains current memberships in legal organizations. He draws on that network for updates on practice developments and for peer consultation. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and willing to take the work required to present a case in court.
Today he practices at Moreland Law Office in Tennessee. He continues to accept matters that involve courtroom advocacy and trial work, applying his trial college training and hands-on litigation experience to his current practice focus.
