About Jay John
Jay John Torrenzano is a seasoned trial attorney based in Hillsborough, New Jersey, with over 39 years of experience in personal injury law. He co-founded Eaton & Torrenzano, Attorneys at Law, in 1997, alongside his law school classmate Craig Eaton. The firm operates offices in Hillsborough, Staten Island, and Brooklyn, serving clients across New York and New Jersey. This strategic location allows them to effectively address the legal needs of clients in both states. Mr. Torrenzano earned his Juris Doctor from New York Law School in 1986 and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Hofstra University, completed in 1982. His legal career began shortly after graduation, when he served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1986 to 1989.
During this time, he was a trial attorney in the Judge Advocate General's Corps at Naval Station San Diego. In this role, he represented enlisted service members as their defense counsel in military courts, gaining inexperience in trial advocacy and legal strategy. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Torrenzano began his civilian legal career as a trial attorney at a prominent New York plaintiffs' personal injury firm. His focus on personal injury law deepened, and he developed a strong reputation for advocating on behalf of injured clients. In 1997, he co-founded Eaton & Torrenzano, Attorneys at Law, with Craig Eaton, specializing in a variety of personal injury cases. The firm handles matters such as animal and dog bites, brain injuries, car accidents, construction accidents, motorcycle accidents, premises liability, truck accidents, and wrongful death claims.
Admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey state courts, Mr. Torrenzano also practices in federal courts in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, as well as the U.S. Court of Military Appeals. His extensive trial experience spans numerous cases throughout New York City and surrounding counties, including Westchester, Orange, Rockland, and Nassau. This breadth of experience equips him to navigate complex legal challenges and advocate for his clients. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Torrenzano is actively involved in community service.
He supports organizations such as Heartshare Human Services and participates in the Kelsey Cancer Run, demonstrating his commitment to giving back. He is married to an elementary school teacher, and together they have three children. In his earlier years, he coached little league baseball and club soccer for his children, further illustrating his dedication to family and community. Mr. Torrenzano's commitment to justice and service is evident in both his professional and personal endeavors.
