About Jay
Jay Drew has been part of Georgia’s legal landscape since the late 1980s. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State University in 1985 and completed his Juris Doctor at Mercer University in 1988. Those credentials underpin a long-standing practice anchored in state courts.
After law school, Drew built a career that has kept him within Georgia’s judicial system. He has practiced in the state’s courts and developed experience handling courtroom work. Over the years he has maintained professional ties that keep him current on trial practice and litigation trends in the state.
Membership in the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association is one of the professional affiliations he retains. That association links him to other attorneys who regularly handle contested matters and trial-level work. He participates in association activities and uses that network to stay engaged with developments in trial advocacy and procedural law.
Drew’s path to the courtroom was shaped by his education and early years practicing in Georgia. He began practicing after completing his J.D., and his work has consistently involved representation of clients in state matters. He has handled contested proceedings and courtroom advocacy, and those experiences have formed the core of his practice.
Today he is based at The Brown Firm. His work from that office continues to involve matters in Georgia’s courts. He represents clients at various stages of litigation and is active in preparing cases for trial when necessary.
Colleagues describe him as steady and practical in the courtroom, preferring clear argument and preparation over theatrics. He keeps a steady pace and does the routine work that trials often require: drafting pleadings, taking depositions, and preparing witnesses. That day-to-day rigor forms the backbone of how he approaches a file.
Outside of court and association meetings, he remains connected to the legal community in Georgia through continuing legal education and professional contacts. He draws on his years of practice when advising clients and when making strategic decisions about how to move a case forward. He currently practices at The Brown Firm, handling matters in Georgia state courts.
