About Javier

Javier Merino took a conventional path into law after studying economics as an undergraduate. He earned a B.A. in Economics from Rutgers University–New Brunswick in 2010. He then attended St. John’s University School of Law, where he completed his J.D. in 2013. Those years shaped his analytical approach and grounded him in economic reasoning before he entered practice.

He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, and he holds admission to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. That mix of state and federal admissions allows him to appear in trial courts and in appellate proceedings across the two states that share much of the same commercial and regulatory landscape.

Early in his career he moved into courtroom work and court filings. He has handled matters that required familiarity with both state court procedure and federal appellate practice. His background in economics often informs how he frames issues for judges, and it gives him a different perspective on damages, contracts and regulatory disputes when those topics arise.

Colleagues describe him as methodical and concise in court filings. He prefers clear argumentation and streamlined briefs over ornate rhetoric. That approach has guided his drafting and oral advocacy. It also aligns with the practical demands of courts in New York and New Jersey, and the concise standards of the Third Circuit.

He is based at The Dann Law Office. There he works alongside other attorneys and support staff handling cases that move between trial courts and appellate review. He is involved in preparing records, briefing appeals and presenting oral argument when matters proceed beyond the trial level. The office provides the platform for his litigation and appellate work and the procedural support that complex matters require.

He continues to practice through The Dann Law Office, centering his work on matters that arise in New York and New Jersey and on filings before the Third Circuit.
