About Jason N.
Jason N. Slate built a legal path that began in the books and led to the courtroom. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of Georgia in 2007 and completed his Juris Doctor at Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in 2010. His academic background gave him a steady grounding in critical thinking and argument.
He moved quickly from support work into licensed practice. In 2009 he worked as a senior paralegal at Dozier Law Office, LLC, then transitioned to an associate role at the same firm after law school in 2010. That early stretch put him close to litigation files and courtroom preparation. It also gave him routine exposure to the rhythm of civil practice and the demands of trial-ready work.
In 2011 he joined the Law Offices of Shane Smith, PC as a litigation lawyer. The next step came in 2013 when he is listed as a trial lawyer at Slate & Oliver, LLC. Those years deepened his courtroom experience. He handled discovery, argued pretrial motions, and prepared witnesses for trial. He also developed practical skills in presenting evidence and managing adversary proceedings.
By 2017 Slate was practicing as a trial lawyer at the Law Office of Johnny Phillips. He continues to work in Georgia courts. His career shows a steady evolution from paralegal duties to front-line trial work. It also reflects repeated, sustained experience handling litigation matters over more than a decade.
Colleagues describe him as someone who understands the architecture of a case. He attends to details that matter in trial preparation: timelines, evidentiary readiness and witness reliability. He is comfortable in the routine of motion practice and the pressure of bench and jury settings. He has sustained a trial-oriented practice through changing roles and firms.
Outside the courtroom he maintains the everyday work of litigation—client interviews, pleadings, discovery and settlement discussions. Those tasks keep cases moving and give him regular contact with clients and opposing counsel. He practices in the state of Georgia and keeps his work local to the jurisdictions where he has built experience.
He now practices at the Law Office of Johnny Phillips, where he handles trial and litigation matters in Georgia state courts.
