About Jason N.
Jason N. Machnik moved from a marketing classroom into a courtroom. He earned a B.A. in Marketing from Western Michigan University, then turned to law and completed his J.D. at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. Those two strands—business and law—inform how he approaches problems now.
He began working in the public sector while still early in his legal career. In 2012 he served as a law clerk in Cass County. The position involved research, draft opinions and supporting judges and attorneys on procedural matters. That experience gave him a practical sense of how local courts operate and what judges expect from filings and advocacy.
After law school he entered private practice. In 2014 he took a lawyer position at Willis Law. There he handled client matters and daily office responsibilities, translating legal concepts into actions that clients could understand. Colleagues remember him for steady legal work and attention to detail in case preparation.
Machnik’s memberships reflect his standing in the profession. He joined the State Bar of Michigan in 2014 and remains a member. That membership has kept him connected to continuing legal education and to the professional standards that guide practice in Michigan.
He blends the analytical skills from his undergraduate business training with the practical habits learned on the courthouse floor. His career path—law clerk to private practitioner—gave him exposure to both institutional and client-facing sides of legal work. That background shapes how he assesses risk, prepares documents and communicates with clients.
Clients and other lawyers encounter him as a practitioner who understands the mechanics of litigation and the demands of running legal matters day to day. He draws on courtroom experience from his clerkship and on substantive client work from his time at Willis Law. Those experiences guide his decisions about case strategy, pacing and when to seek negotiated outcomes.
As of 2026 he is an active member of the State Bar of Michigan and maintains a practice in Michigan.
