Jason Luong is a distinguished criminal defense attorney based in Houston, Texas. He founded The Law Office of Jason Luong, PLLC, which is located at 1004 Prairie Street, Suite 200, Houston, TX 77002. His educational journey began at Rice University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in 1997, majoring in Economics and Political Science. This strong academic foundation laid the groundwork for his legal career. In 2000, Luong graduated with honors from The University of Texas School of Law. While there, he was an active member of the Texas Law Review, contributing to legal scholarship and honing his writing skills.

After law school, he gained inexperience by clerking for U.S. District Judge W. Royal Furgeson Jr. This position provided him with insight into federal court proceedings. Following these roles, he continued to serve as a law clerk to Judge Furgeson in the Western District of Texas.

In 2008, Luong joined the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney. During his tenure, he handled a diverse range of cases, from driving while intoxicated (DWI) to serious felony offenses, including murder. This experience gave him a knowledge of the prosecution's perspective, which he later leveraged in his defense practice. In 2012, he transitioned to criminal defense, founding his own practice to advocate for individuals facing criminal charges. His commitment to public service and the legal community culminated in 2018 when he was elected as the judge of the 185th Criminal District Court of Harris County. This milestone made him the first Vietnamese American elected to a criminal court bench in Texas, a significant achievement that reflects his dedication to diversity and representation in the judiciary.

Luong is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association, and the Asian-American Bar Association of Houston. He has also served on the board of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association and chaired Teach For America’s annual school supply drive. Throughout his career, Luong has been recognized for his legal acumen and dedication to justice.
