About Jason
Jason Braswell built a legal path that started in the sciences and moved into law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2000. He then attended Chicago-Kent College of Law at the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he received his J.D. in 2003. Those credentials framed an early career that took him into large-firm practice.
Fresh out of law school in 2003, Braswell joined Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP as an associate. He spent his early years there working within the structures of a national firm. The role exposed him to high-volume transactions and the internal processes of a major law office. It also gave him experience that would inform later moves into smaller practice settings.
In 2016 he opened the Law Offices of Jason R. Braswell, LLC. Running his own practice required a different skill set from the one he used at a large firm. He handled client intake, case management and the business tasks that come with solo practice. Those six years in private practice reshaped his day-to-day work and offered a direct line to clients’ needs.
Braswell became a partner at Braswell Fujioka-Lilley LLP in 2019. The partnership signaled a return to a collaborative firm model while retaining the client-centered perspective he developed running his own office. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and Hawaii, and he applies his experience across both jurisdictions. Colleagues note that his background spans both big firm systems and the hands-on demands of independent practice.
Outside courtroom or conference room duties, Braswell’s training in biology sets him apart among lawyers who began in the humanities. That scientific background informs how he approaches evidence and technical detail. It also shapes his methodical approach to case development and negotiation.
Over the course of his career he has moved between different scales of practice, from associate to solo practitioner to partner. That trajectory provides him with a perspective on client service and firm operations that is grounded in real-world experience. He now practices at Braswell Fujioka-Lilley LLP and concentrates his current practice on matters handled across his admitted jurisdictions of Illinois and Hawaii.
