About Jason Anthony
Jason Anthony Burgess built a legal path that spans bankruptcy practice, court work and bar association leadership. He studied political science and English as an undergraduate and then moved into law. He earned a B.A. from the University of Alabama in 2000 and a J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2004. He later completed an advanced law degree in business transactions at the University of Alabama School of Law.
His early years in practice included a clerkship and associate-level work at Schuyler Stewart Smith, P.A., beginning in 2004. That period gave him hands-on exposure to consumer and creditor matters. In 2009 he established The Law Offices of Jason A. Burgess, LLC and has been listed as an owner since then. He has maintained that practice through the years, handling filings, hearings and negotiations for individual debtors and related entities.
Burgess is admitted to practice in multiple jurisdictions. He holds licenses in Florida, Texas and the District of Columbia, and is admitted in the 11th Circuit and Tennessee. Those credentials allow him to appear in a range of federal and state matters that touch on bankruptcy and insolvency questions.
Professional associations have been a constant part of his career. He is a member of the Florida Bar and the District of Columbia Bar. He belongs to the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers. He has been involved with regional bankruptcy bars, including the Northern District of Florida Bankruptcy Bar Association. He served as president of the Jacksonville Bankruptcy Bar Association, a role that placed him in contact with local judges and trustees and required organizing meetings and educational programs.
Practice work leans on Chapter 13 experience and routine consumer bankruptcy practice. He appears in contested matters, handles plan negotiations and advises clients on the interplay between bankruptcy and consumer rights. He also engages with trustees and other court participants on procedural and administrative issues that arise in personal insolvency cases.
Colleagues and fellow bar members know him through association meetings and local bar events. He has kept an active presence in both national and local professional organizations since the late 2000s. That steady participation reflects an interest in staying current on rules, case law and practical developments affecting bankruptcy practice.
He is the owner and managing lawyer at The Law Offices of Jason A. Burgess, LLC. He currently concentrates on consumer bankruptcy, Chapter 13 cases and related litigation matters.
