About Jarrett P
Evidence and procedure matter in criminal cases. Jarrett P Ambeau built a career where those questions carry weight.
He began his academic path in the humanities, earning a degree in philosophy from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 2000. He moved from theory to law at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, Louisiana State University, where he received his J.D. in 2005. After practicing law, he returned to study forensic science. He completed programs at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law’s National Forensic College in 2016 and 2018 and pursued graduate work in forensic DNA and blood serology at the University of Florida.
His earliest professional experience includes service in the U.S. Army as a 27D paralegal specialist in 2001. That role exposed him to military legal procedure and evidence handling at an early stage. He entered private practice and was associated with Dugas, LeBlanc & Mire in 2008. The following year he joined public defense work as a public defender for the 23rd Judicial District Indigent Defense Board, handling cases for clients who could not otherwise afford counsel.
In 2010 he opened his own firm, The Ambeau Law Office. Running a small firm required shifting between courtroom work, client intake, and case strategy. The practice handled criminal matters and drew on his forensic training when cases turned on technical evidence.
Ambeau has maintained connections to the broader criminal defense community. He has been a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association since 2009 and served on its Criminal Justice Committee. He joined the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2011 and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2012. In 2015 he was invited to serve as a special advisor to the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Code of Criminal Procedure Revision Committee. Earlier in his career he was a member of the Wex Malone Inn of Court from 2008 to 2010.
The combination of courtroom experience, indigent defense work, and formal training in forensic science shapes how he approaches cases. He has handled cases that require careful review of forensic reports, cross-examination of expert witnesses, and attention to procedural safeguards.
He maintains an office at 9522 Brookline Ave and continues to represent clients in criminal matters, bringing forensic training and trial experience to his current practice focus.
