About Jarman J.
Jarman J. Smith earned his Juris Doctor from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 2020. He arrived at law school after undergraduate work and spent his time there engaged in both classroom and practical legal training. His law school record includes a role as a research assistant and an externship at the Franklin County Municipal Court in 2018, positions that familiarized him with judicial procedures and legal writing.
After graduation Smith moved into private practice. He served as an associate at Brouse McDowell, LPA, where he was involved in client work that required drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, and preparing for hearings. Those early years gave him regular exposure to courtroom practice and the everyday tasks that keep cases moving from intake to resolution.
In 2024 he joined Dinsmore & Shohl LLP as an associate. The move placed him in a larger firm setting and expanded the scale of matters he handled. At Dinsmore he continued to refine litigation skills while working alongside partners and senior associates on discovery, motion practice, and client consultations.
Smith is licensed to practice law in Ohio and holds a Notary Public commission from the Ohio Secretary of State. His background at a municipal court and in private firms means he brings both courtroom experience and transactional familiarity to his client work. He maintains ties to legal education through the research work he performed at Moritz, and he draws on that training when preparing briefs and advising clients.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in his preparation and straightforward in communications. He balances a respect for procedure with an emphasis on clear legal writing. He currently practices law in Ohio as an associate at Dinsmore & Shohl LLP and concentrates on client representation, legal research and courtroom advocacy.
