About Jann C
Jann C Washington built a career that moves from clinical work into law. She began her postsecondary education at Cuyahoga Community College, where she completed a certificate in respiratory therapy and later returned for an associate degree in liberal arts. She continued her studies at the University of Toledo and earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts before attending law school at Cleveland State University.
Those academic steps led to an early legal role as an associate at Petersen & Petersen in 2011. After a year there she took on an of-counsel role at Cozmyk Law Offices LLC in 2012. In the same year she launched a solo practice, forming Jann C. Washington, Esq., LLC. The move to a solo firm allowed her to shape a practice that engages with both federal and state matters in Ohio.
Her license and courtroom admissions include the Northern District of Ohio Bankruptcy Court, the Northern District of Ohio, and the state courts of Ohio. She maintains active membership in the Ohio State Bar Association and the Westshore Bar Association. Those affiliations keep her connected to local bar activity and developments in federal practice rules.
Washington’s caseload reflects that range of admissions. She regularly appears in the Northern District of Ohio Bankruptcy Court and handles matters filed in Ohio’s state and federal forums. Her day-to-day work involves courtroom appearances, filings in bankruptcy matters, and direct client counseling on procedural and substantive issues arising under the relevant statutes and rules.
Colleagues describe her practice style as straightforward and methodical. She shifts between litigation tasks and client meetings, often preparing pleadings and managing case deadlines herself. Running a small firm means she handles a broad set of responsibilities — from intake and legal research to hearing preparation and post-hearing follow-up.
Outside of the courtroom, Washington draws on her varied educational background when explaining complex legal concepts to clients. Her experience in health care education and liberal arts studies informs a practical approach to client communication. She continues to practice through Jann C. Washington, Esq., LLC, handling matters that come before the bankruptcy court and the state and federal courts of Ohio.
