About Janice
Janice Miles built a dual foundation before she turned to the law. She earned a Master of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1997 and went on to receive her Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2004. That combination of social work and legal training has shaped how she approaches courtroom work and client advocacy.
Early in her career she immersed herself in San Antonio’s legal community. She joined the Texas and local bar organizations and began taking roles that intersected with family and juvenile matters. Over time she added certifications relevant to vulnerable populations. She is a Certified Guardian and serves as a Lawyer Ad Litem in all Texas courts, credentials that reflect hands-on involvement in cases where the interests of children or incapacitated adults are at stake.
Her association list reads like a map of local and national child welfare and legal groups. She is a current member of the State Bar of Texas, the San Antonio Bar Association and its Family Law Section, the San Antonio Children’s Court Association, and the National Association of Counsel for Children. She has been active with the San Antonio Bar Foundation and served on the Nomination Committee for the Peacemaker Awards. For more than a decade she has participated in programming such as Courts in Schools and the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Ethics events. She also maintains membership in San Antonio Criminal Lawyers Association and Texas Young Lawyers Association.
Practice has kept her connected to both courtroom procedures and community outreach. Her background in social work informs how she assesses client needs, particularly in family and juvenile matters. She has worked as a lawyer in the San Antonio area and has taken on roles that require both legal judgment and sensitivity to personal circumstances. She is known among colleagues for steady participation in local bar projects and for taking assignments as a court-appointed guardian and ad litem.
Today she practices at Lawyer at Law, PLLC in San Antonio, where she continues to combine legal representation with work on behalf of children and other protected parties. She remains an active member of the State Bar of Texas and several local legal organizations. Her current practice centers on matters involving family law, juvenile issues, guardianships and court-appointed representation.
