About Janice
Janice Jacovino builds a practice at the intersection of family law and dispute resolution. She combines courtroom experience, mediation work and private practice management. Her approach is pragmatic. She favors clear options over legal jargon.
Jacovino earned her J.D. from the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law in 2009 after completing undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2004. Her academic background in psychology informs how she handles negotiations and client counseling. It also shapes the way she prepares cases and conducts mediations.
Her early legal work began soon after law school. In 2010 she worked as an attorney at McCarthy and Holthus, gaining experience in litigation matters that often touched on consumer and property issues. That same year she began serving as a mediator and mediation counsel under the name Janice Jacovino, Mediator. The dual experience of representing clients and sitting across the table as a neutral gave her a broad view of how disputes settle and when they require a trial.
In 2014 Jacovino joined Lonardo and Jacovino LLC as a partner. The partnership expanded her courtroom practice and deepened her involvement in family law matters. She maintained her mediation practice during that period, handling private mediations and advising on settlement strategy.
She opened Jacovino Law Office in 2020 and continues there as owner. The firm handles family law matters and offers mediation services. The move into solo practice allowed her to shape client intake, case management and settlement processes around clients’ needs rather than firm templates.
Admission to practice spans multiple forums. Jacovino has been a member of the Nevada State Bar since 2009 and joined the District of Columbia Bar in 2012. She is also admitted to practice before the Ninth Circuit. Professional affiliations include the American Inns of Court, where she is a barrister, the Family Law Section and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. She has held those memberships for years, attending bench-bar events and continuing legal education programs.
Her career reads as a mix of advocacy and neutral work. She has handled contested family law matters, counseled clients during settlement negotiations and conducted private mediations. She currently operates Jacovino Law Office and continues to accept matters in family law and mediation.
