Jane Ellen Bednar is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 1988 and holds bar number 138626. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. Bednar is the principal at Jane E. Bednar PC, a law firm located in Carmel Valley, California. She has been practicing law for over 37 years, serving clients throughout Monterey County and the surrounding areas.
Ms. Bednar earned her Juris Doctor degree from Monterey College of Law in 1988. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communications in 1975. During her time at Monterey College of Law, she gained practical experience through various internships and clerkships, preparing her for a diverse legal career.
Ms. Bednar concentrates her practice in the areas of personal injury, elder financial abuse, and civil litigation. She represents individuals and businesses in matters involving workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and premises liability claims. Her practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.
Throughout her career, Ms. Bednar has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Monterey, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding her own firm, she worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Monterey for five years.
Ms. Bednar is an active member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the Monterey County Bar Association, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Monterey County Bar Association and was the past president of the Monterey County Women Lawyers Association. She is also a certified mediator through the Monterey College of Law's Mandell-Gisnet Center for Conflict Management. Ms. Bednar is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing her to serve the diverse communities of Monterey County effectively.
