About Jane E.

Jane E. Probst earned her law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1987. She entered the profession at a time when the practice of family law in Wisconsin was evolving, and her career reflects steady movement through private practice and leadership roles. She is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and before the Seventh Circuit.

Her early years in practice led to the establishment of her own firm. In 1998 she served as President and Owner of the Law Offices of Jane E. Probst, S.C. She later joined Ladd, Milaeger & Probst, LLP as a partner in 2004. The next decade brought further transitions; she became a shareholder at Halling & Cayo, S.C. in 2009 and then a partner at Vitek & Probst, S.C. in 2012. In 2015 she assumed the presidency of Probst Law Offices, S.C., returning to the firm name under which she had previously practiced.

Probst’s professional training includes a custody and placement mediation certification from the University of Wisconsin. That credential underpins much of her work in family law and dispute resolution. She serves as a divorce mediator and is active in collaborative practice circles. Her memberships include the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Bar Association, the Waukesha Bar Association, the Collaborative Divorce Council of Wisconsin, the American Inns of Court for Matrimonial Lawyers, and the Family Law Society, where she has been listed since 2010.

Colleagues describe her as steady and deliberate in handling sensitive matters. She has moved between roles as solo practitioner, partner, shareholder, and firm president, and those changes reflect a practice shaped by courtroom experience and mediated resolutions. She has argued matters in state courts and holds admission to the Seventh Circuit, permitting her to handle appeals and federal filings that touch on family law issues when necessary.

Her approach is practical. She balances litigation where required with mediation and collaborative options when those paths suit clients. Cases often involve divorce, custody and placement issues, and the negotiation structures that surround them. She maintains memberships in local and statewide bar organizations and in professional groups that center on family law practice.

She currently practices at Probst Law Offices, S.C., concentrating on family law, divorce, custody matters and mediation.
