About James
James Shilobrit built a steady legal career from a foundation in business and law. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 1984. Four years later he graduated from Hamline University School of Law, receiving his law degree in 1988.
He began practicing in Wisconsin after law school and has remained tied to the state’s legal community. In 2007 he joined Hupy and Abraham, S.C. That move placed him at a firm known for representing individuals in a range of civil matters. His role there has involved direct work on client files and courtroom preparation.
Shilobrit maintains active membership in several professional organizations. He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. He also holds membership in the American Association for Justice, which connects attorneys who handle civil litigation. These affiliations keep him connected to developments in procedure, trial practice, and professional standards.
Colleagues describe him as steady and pragmatic in handling client matters. He focuses on thorough case preparation and clear communication with clients. He has handled litigation tasks that include pleadings, discovery, and hearings. In the courtroom he approaches cases with attention to the facts and to the procedural rules that govern evidence and advocacy.
Outside the courtroom he draws on his business background when evaluating claims and damages. That training helps in assessing economic losses, medical expenses, and other quantifiable aspects of cases. It also informs his approach to settlement discussions and case valuation.
Over the years he has worked on files across Wisconsin, appearing in circuit courts and in administrative proceedings as needed. That on-the-ground experience has given him a familiarity with local court practices and procedures. He continues to participate in bar activities and professional education opportunities to stay current in the law.
He currently practices at Hupy & Abraham, S.C., handling client matters in Wisconsin.
