About James Ralph Aulbaugh
James Ralph Aulbaugh III earned his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2007. He arrived in the legal world at a time of change in Texas courts. The classroom gave him doctrine. The courthouse gave him practice.
Shortly after graduation he joined the Dallas County prosecutor's office. By 2008 he was serving as a chief felony prosecutor. That role put him at the center of serious criminal matters. He led grand jury presentations, tried felony cases and supervised other attorneys handling major prosecutions. Those years sharpened his familiarity with trial procedure and courtroom strategy.
His hands-on experience in criminal cases led to board certification in criminal law from the Texas Board of Legal Examiners. Over time he built a record of trying cases and arguing contested hearings in state court.
In 2021 he became managing partner of The Aulbaugh Law Office, PLLC. In that role he oversees case management and office operations while continuing courtroom work. The move to private practice shifted his perspective from prosecuting state charges to representing individuals and entities in criminal matters. He draws on years of prosecutorial experience when evaluating evidence, negotiating with prosecutors and preparing defenses.
He remains licensed in Texas and conducts litigation in state courts across the jurisdiction. His practice centers on criminal law, including felony defense and related proceedings. He handles pretrial motions, jury trials and post-conviction matters when those arise.
