About James R.

James R. Stout built a legal path that blends regional practice with federal courtroom work. He earned a J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 1995 after completing a B.S. in economics at San Diego State University. The academic record set a steady base for a career spanning several western jurisdictions.

He entered the bar in the mid-1990s and has since been admitted to practice in California, Nevada, Arizona and before the Federal Circuit. Public records show memberships dating to 1995 and continuing through the early 2000s in state bars, and an Arizona State Bar membership listed from 2004 to the present. Those multi-jurisdictional admissions have shaped a practice that moves between state courts and federal forums.

Early in his career, he handled a range of matters typical for litigators building a practice across state lines. He has represented clients in both trial and appellate settings and taken cases into federal court where procedural and appellate rules differ from state practice. Over time his work came to require familiarity with differing court systems and the administrative processes that govern filings and appeals.

Stout has operated from his own office, Stout Law Office, where he has managed client relationships, case strategy and courtroom advocacy. Running a smaller practice has meant handling the administrative as well as the substantive sides of litigation, including intake, discovery management and court appearances. That experience influences how he prepares cases and communicates with clients.

Peers and opposing counsel have encountered him in a range of proceedings. He is a member of professional associations that mark continuing participation in the bar community. Those memberships reflect the routine obligations of active lawyers: maintaining licensure, meeting continuing-education requirements and staying current on procedural changes.

Outside the courtroom, he has balanced practice demands with the procedural work necessary for multi-jurisdictional admission. Admitting counsel to practice before different courts requires attention to credentialing rules, local practice norms and federal filing requirements. Those elements shape how he approaches case intake and client advisement.

Today he practices from Stout Law Office and remains active in the jurisdictions where he is admitted. His current practice focuses on state and federal court litigation across the jurisdictions in which he holds admission.
