About James R.

James R. Pastor built his foundation at Rutgers. He earned a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University–New Brunswick/Piscataway and then continued at Rutgers School of Law–Newark for his J.D. Those years laid the groundwork for a career rooted in New Jersey law.

After law school he established himself in the state where he is licensed to practice. He is admitted to appear before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, a credential he has held since 2004. He also maintains membership in the American Bar Association. Those affiliations place him squarely within the network of practitioners who work on both local and federal matters in the state.

Colleagues describe him as pragmatic and straightforward. He approaches cases with attention to procedure and an eye for detail. His undergraduate studies in criminal justice inform how he assesses fact patterns and witnesses. His law school training added the tools of advocacy and legal analysis.

Over the years he has balanced courtroom work and matters handled outside of litigation. He is comfortable preparing filings for federal court and handling the deadlines and requirements that come with that venue. At the same time he manages matters that arise in New Jersey’s state courts. That combination reflects the practical demands of many clients who face overlapping state and federal issues.

Professional memberships have been part of his practice rhythm. His ABA membership keeps him connected to developments in the wider legal community. His admission to the federal court in 2004 remains a constant credential in his portfolio.

He keeps a straightforward presence in the local bar. He participates in the legal community through court appearances and professional associations rather than public-facing scholarship or academic posts. He applies his training to everyday problems that bring clients to a New Jersey lawyer: contested motions, federal procedural work and state-court matters.

He currently practices law in New Jersey, handling federal litigation and state matters in the courts where he is admitted.
