About James R. Cook

James R. Cook II earned his law degree from Appalachian School of Law in 2012. He arrived at the barroom door equipped with a curriculum that emphasized courtroom practice and a brief window into appellate procedure. The diploma marked the formal start of a legal career anchored in Tennessee.

After law school, Cook entered private practice and built a steady practice in state and federal arenas. He is admitted to practice in Tennessee and before the Federal Circuit, and he maintains an active membership in the State Bar of Tennessee. Those formal admissions shape where he works and the kinds of filings he regularly handles.

Cook’s work has kept him inside courtrooms and in front of judges. He represents clients in matters that arise under Tennessee law and brings cases before the Federal Circuit when appeals or specialized federal jurisdiction make that the proper venue. His professional life balances state-level disputes and federal filings. That mix requires attention to differing procedure and deadlines, and it informs how he prepares matters for court.

He practices at Page & Cook, Lawyers at Law. The firm’s name appears on filings and court dockets where he is counsel of record. At the office he handles client consultations, case development and advocacy in both trial and appellate settings. He also manages the paperwork and procedural work that precede hearings and motions.

Outside court, Cook stays engaged with the local legal community through the State Bar of Tennessee. That membership keeps him connected to peers and to the continuing legal education that state practice often demands. He keeps current on procedural developments in Tennessee courts and on issues that affect cases taken to the Federal Circuit.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and straightforward in court. He approaches cases one at a time, attending to facts and to the precise rules that govern filings. He has built a practice that moves between state courtrooms and federal appellate work, and he remains based in Tennessee.

He currently focuses his practice on representing clients in matters before Tennessee courts and in proceedings before the Federal Circuit.
