About James
James Logan began his academic path at Duke University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and public policy in 1987. He went on to study law at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1996. Those years laid a foundation in both analytical thinking and an understanding of how policy and law intersect.
After law school, Logan went into private practice and established his own firm. In 1997 he opened James R. Logan PA and has operated the practice since. Running a small firm meant handling many of the tasks owners often face: building a client base, managing operations and appearing in court when necessary. It also meant steady work across a range of matters in the Maryland legal system.
Logan is licensed to practice in Maryland and has spent his career serving clients in that jurisdiction. Over the decades he has handled client matters that required courtroom appearances, negotiation and document drafting. He has worked directly with individuals and businesses, addressing legal problems that arise in state-level practice. His practice reflects the kinds of day-to-day legal work that small law offices typically carry out.
Colleagues and clients describe Logan as practical and straightforward in his approach. He tends to favor clear explanations over jargon. That style shows up in how he communicates legal options and trade-offs, so clients can make informed choices. In managing his firm he has combined casework with the administrative duties that come from running an office year after year.
Today, Logan continues to operate James R. Logan PA and to practice law in Maryland. He remains based in the state and continues to represent clients through his firm. His current practice focuses on serving clients in Maryland through his law office.
