About James K.

James K. Sherbin built a course to law that began in the humanities. He earned a B.A. in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2018. Four years later he completed his J.D. at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, graduating in 2022.

Law school sharpened a slow, deliberate approach to problems. Sherbin spent those years immersed in legal research, writing and classroom debate. The philosophical training that preceded law school shows up in how he frames issues. He tends to break complex questions into their component parts and test assumptions before moving to solutions.

After law school Sherbin entered practice in Michigan. He is licensed to practice in that state and is a member of the State Bar of Michigan. He joined Neumann Law Group, where he has continued to develop practical skills in client work, case preparation and courtroom procedure.

At the firm Sherbin’s day-to-day work blends research, drafting and client contact. He prepares pleadings, handles discovery tasks and supports trial teams when cases advance toward litigation. Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and attentive to factual detail. He also spends time advising clients about procedural steps and the practical implications of legal choices.

Sherbin’s path from a philosophy undergraduate degree to a J.D. reflects a preference for rigorous analysis. That background informs how he approaches litigation and client counseling. It also influences his courtroom demeanor, where clarity and precision tend to steer his presentations.

Outside the office he maintains professional ties through the Michigan State Bar. He keeps current on developments in Michigan law and on procedural shifts that affect litigation practice. He is based at Neumann Law Group and contributes to the firm’s work across its Michigan offices.

He currently practices at Neumann Law Group, providing legal services to clients in Michigan.
