About James J.
James J. Hux built a path to the law that began in Columbus. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Ohio State University in 2007. That grounding in economic reasoning preceded his decision to study law, and he completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2014.
After law school he entered the practice of law in Ohio. He is licensed to practice in the state and maintains memberships in the Ohio State Bar and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. He also holds certification as a Notary Public for the State of Ohio.
Hux’s background in economics informs the way he approaches legal questions. He tends to focus on the factual and numerical elements of a case when they are present, and he pays attention to how legal outcomes interact with practical business and financial concerns. Colleagues describe him as deliberate in analysis and clear in explaining complex points, preferring plain language over technical jargon when addressing clients or opposing counsel.
Throughout his career he has worked with clients and other lawyers in a variety of settings in Ohio courts and administrative forums. He takes a methodical approach to case preparation and to resolving disputes. He is comfortable handling tasks that require detailed review of records and careful legal research. Outside the courtroom, he is active in local bar activities and professional events through his bar association memberships.
Hux’s combination of an economics undergraduate degree and a law degree gives him perspective on disputes that involve financial or policy elements. He applies that perspective whether reviewing contracts, evaluating regulatory issues, or counseling clients on procedural steps in litigation. He keeps current on developments in Ohio law through bar association programs and continuing legal education.
He currently practices law in Ohio and concentrates his practice on matters arising under Ohio law.
