About James H
James H Kane earned a B.B.A. in finance from Texas A&M University, College Station, in 1984. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 1988. Those degrees set a foundation in both business and law that would shape his career.
He entered professional services at a time of change in the industry. He joined Arthur Andersen LLP and served as a partner beginning in 1988. After more than a decade in that environment, he moved to Deloitte LLP, where he held a partner role starting in 2002. The shift from one large firm to another reflected a transition from traditional accounting work toward broader consulting and advisory responsibilities.
In 2004 he co-founded True Partners Consulting LLC and took on the role of managing director. That venture marked a move into entrepreneur-led consulting. He worked on building teams and services aimed at clients navigating operational and financial challenges. The experience bridged the worlds of big-firm structure and smaller, client-focused consulting practice.
In 2013 he assumed the role of CEO at Kane & Co. That position places him at the head of a firm that bears his name. Over the years he has overseen organizational strategy and client-facing initiatives. His background in finance, law and professional services informs how he manages both internal operations and external engagements.
Kane is licensed to practice in Illinois. His professional trajectory traces a steady arc from accountant-lawyer hybrid roles to leadership in consulting and advisory firms. He has worked in partnership roles at major firms, helped found a consultancy and now runs his own practice. The throughline is practical work with businesses, often at the interface of finance, compliance and operational improvement.
Colleagues and clients describe him as someone who moves easily between technical subjects and management-level strategy. He has experience directing teams and communicating complex issues to boards and senior executives. That combination has guided his approach to client matters and firm leadership.
He currently leads Kane & Co., where his practice centers on corporate advisory and consulting for business clients.
