About James

James Danko moved from a foundation in engineering into the practice of law. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2007. He then completed a Master of Science in Building Construction at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2009. After several years of technical study, he turned to legal training and received a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2013.

His early academic path gave him a technical vocabulary and an understanding of building processes. Those qualities informed his decision to study law. At Santa Clara he combined legal coursework with an appreciation for the practical constraints and standards that govern construction and infrastructure projects. The shift from engineering labs and sites to law school classrooms shaped the way he approaches problems: methodical, detail-oriented and evidence-based.

Danko is licensed to practice in South Carolina. He practices at Danko Law LLC. Colleagues describe his approach as precise rather than flashy; he tends to prioritize clear analysis and careful drafting. His engineering background often appears in the work he accepts. Complex contract terms, construction schedules, specifications and technical reports are easier to parse when a lawyer understands the underlying discipline.

Outside of the office, he maintains current membership in a professional association tied to his field. That membership suggests ongoing engagement with peers and professional development while he balances the demands of private practice. He has moved fluidly between technical and legal worlds, which helps when cases or transactions require translating technical material into legal arguments or practical advice for clients.

Clients and other lawyers often find that his combined credentials shorten the learning curve on technical topics. He reads structural and environmental reports with the same attention he gives to statutes and case law. That dual perspective can shape negotiations, influence dispute resolution strategies and inform litigation planning.

He continues to practice at Danko Law LLC, applying his engineering and legal training to matters where the two intersect. He currently focuses his practice on matters involving construction, engineering and related legal issues.
