About James D.

James D. Evans earned a B.A. from Trinity College before attending the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he received his J.D. His early education set a clear path toward legal practice. He completed the formal legal training that licensed him to practice in multiple jurisdictions and prepared him for work that crosses state lines.

After law school, Evans joined Fenwick & West LLP. He has practiced there during his legal career and has experience handling matters that require coordination across different courts and regulatory bodies. His work at the firm has involved collaboration with colleagues in multiple offices and with clients operating in varied industries.

Evans is admitted to the bars of Washington, California and the District of Columbia. Those admissions allow him to represent clients in those states and before certain federal forums. He has taken on matters that touch on state and regional regulatory frameworks, and he often manages legal questions that implicate more than one jurisdiction.

Colleagues describe Evans as practical and analytical. He combines classroom training from Berkeley Law with the day-to-day demands of firm practice. That combination is evident in how he approaches case preparation, client counseling and transactional work. He is comfortable moving between legal research, drafting and oral advocacy when situations require that mix of tasks.

Today Evans remains at Fenwick & West LLP. He divides his time among matters that arise in Washington, California and the District of Columbia. In that role he advises clients on legal challenges tied to those jurisdictions and coordinates with other counsel when matters extend beyond them. He practices at Fenwick & West LLP and handles matters in the jurisdictions where he is admitted.
