About James

James Carmon studied political structures before turning to the law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Howard University in 1999, then went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2003. Those years framed his early professional outlook and set the stage for a practice centered in Maryland.

Following law school, Carmon entered the legal community in Maryland. He is admitted to practice in the state and has built a career working on matters that arise under Maryland law. His path has included courtroom appearances, negotiation, and drafting of legal documents, all tied to the statutory and case law of the state where he practices.

Carmon’s undergraduate study in political science informs the way he approaches legal questions. He tends to emphasize statutory text and legislative intent when evaluating issues. He also pays attention to procedural detail and the practical steps that move a case or transaction forward. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing filings and deliberate in court presentations.

Over the years, Carmon has handled a range of matters for individual and organizational clients. He spends time preparing clients for hearings and helping them understand the likely consequences of different legal paths. He adapts written arguments to the expectations of Maryland judges and works to present factual records clearly. He has maintained a steady practice in the state’s legal system and continues to work regularly in Maryland courts and administrative forums.

Outside of casework, Carmon follows developments in Maryland legislation and appellate decisions closely. He uses that knowledge to inform case strategy and to advise clients on how changes in law might affect their positions. He keeps current through continuing legal education and professional reading. He currently practices law in Maryland, representing clients in matters governed by Maryland law.
