About Jaime
Jaime Halscott built a career around questions that come after a trial ends. He reads records closely and writes arguments intended to persuade judges who weigh legal standards rather than witness memory.
Halscott studied science at the University of Central Florida before turning to law at Barry University, where he earned his J.D. The combination of a technical undergraduate background and legal training shaped how he approaches legal issues: methodical, focused on foundations, and attentive to detail.
He rose through appellate practice ranks and in 2014 took on the role of managing partner at Appeals Law Group. In that capacity he oversees appellate strategy, directs brief-writing teams and prepares clients and counsel for oral argument. His managerial responsibilities have included case assignment across multiple offices tied to his firm and coordination with litigators handling trial-level work.
Halscott is licensed in several state and federal venues. He practices in Florida and Minnesota, and is admitted in the District of Columbia. His federal admissions span the 1st through the 11th Circuits, the D.C. Circuit and the Federal Circuit. That breadth lets him appear in a wide array of appellate settings and respond to complex jurisdictional questions that often arise in multi-district or multi-jurisdiction matters.
Colleagues describe his work product as concise and legally grounded. He favors tight, precedent-oriented briefs that emphasize legal error rather than rearguing facts. In court he concentrates on the discrete legal questions before the panel and on anticipating the concerns judges will bring up in their questions. He also spends time mentoring junior attorneys on appellate drafting and on the mechanics of oral argument.
Over the years Halscott’s practice has encompassed government appeals, commercial disputes and constitutional issues where the record and legal standard matter most. He often works with trial counsel to shape the record at the trial level so issues will be preserved for appeal. That practical link between trial and appellate work shows in the cases he handles and the posture of the arguments he presents.
As managing partner, Halscott balances administrative duties with an active docket of appeals. He maintains offices associated with Appeals Law Group and works in coordination with the Federal Trial Law Group on matters that require both trial and appellate planning. He currently focuses on appellate litigation and federal appeals.
