About Jacqueline Brown
Jacqueline Brown Scott earned her law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2005. Before that she completed a master’s in international relations and human rights at San Francisco State University in 2002. Her undergraduate work was at St. Lawrence University, where she studied environmental science and Latin American politics, graduating in 1996.
Her legal career began immediately after law school. In 2005 she served as a Lawyer Advisor for the Executive Office for Immigration Review. That role placed her inside the federal immigration court system at an early point in her career and gave her direct experience with immigration procedures and case evaluation.
She later worked as a contract immigration lawyer in 2008. That position expanded her hands-on work with clients and tribunal proceedings. The contract role bridged government service and private practice and helped shape the kinds of matters she would handle going forward.
In 2010 she founded The Law Office of Jacqueline Brown Scott. The same year she worked as a contract attorney for the National Pro Bono Project for Children through CLINIC, providing legal services to vulnerable youth. Establishing her own practice allowed her to manage client work more directly and to carry forward both public and nonprofit experience into private representation.
Scott has been active in bar and professional organizations. She has been co-chair of the Barristers Immigration Section of the San Francisco Bar Association since 2010. She holds membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Queens Bench Bar Association, both since 2009. Those affiliations reflect sustained engagement with immigration practitioners and local legal communities on both coasts.
Her work spans courtroom representation, client advising, and pro bono matters. Past positions in the Executive Office for Immigration Review and in contract roles inform how she approaches hearings and procedural issues. She has handled matters that involve immigrant children and adults, drawing on her earlier public service and nonprofit project work.
Scott is licensed in California and maintains a practice under the name The Law Office of Jacqueline Brown Scott. She combines experience in federal immigration procedures with private practice. She currently practices immigration law in California.
