About Jacob
Jacob Vela is an Oregon-licensed attorney who joined the private bar after finishing law school in the early 2020s. He moved into legal practice after completing a nontraditional undergraduate path that combined study and other pursuits. He brings a methodical approach to everyday problems and to contentious matters alike.
Vela earned his Juris Doctor from Willamette University College of Law in 2022 after beginning his studies in 2019. Before law school he completed a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science at Brigham Young University, receiving that degree in 2017. Those years of study shaped how he thinks about evidence, procedure, and the practical consequences of legal decisions.
Soon after graduating, Vela entered private practice in Oregon. He accepted an associate role at a small firm before moving to Argo Law LLC, where he remains on the legal team. Colleagues describe him as measured and attentive to detail. He learned courtroom procedure and file management on the job, taking on discovery tasks, motion practice, and client meetings that required quick adaptation and steady judgment.
Vela’s work covers a range of civil matters. He handles client counseling and negotiates settlements, prepares pleadings and motions, and represents clients in hearings. He pays close attention to case preparation and the mechanics of litigation. He also draws on his undergraduate background when matters intersect with medical or physical-injury issues, using that understanding when questions of causation or damages arise. In practice he balances advocacy with practical risk assessment for the people and businesses who hire him.
At Argo Law LLC, Vela is part of a small team that serves local clients. He has taken responsibility for case management and court filings and has appeared in state court proceedings. He continues to refine his litigation skills while advising clients on potential outcomes and procedural options. He is an active participant in continuing legal education events and keeps up with Oregon civil procedure and practice developments.
He currently concentrates his practice on client counseling, negotiation, and litigation in civil matters at Argo Law LLC.
