About J. Robert McAllister
J. Robert McAllister III trained at some of the East Coast's established schools. He earned an A.B. from Davidson College, took an LL.B. at the University of Virginia School of Law, and completed advanced legal study with an LL.M. from Georgetown University. Those degrees set the stage for a long career that crosses public service and private practice.
Early in his professional life he served in the United States Army and held the rank of captain in 1965. After military service he entered the practice of law. Over the decades he has maintained admissions across federal and state forums, including the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, as well as the Virginia bar.
His legal work moved through firm practice into senior advisory roles.
