About J. Michael
J. Michael Deweese began his legal career soon after completing law school in 2016. He earned his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and holds a B.S. from Indiana University–Purdue University at Columbus, completed in 2013. Those formative years established a foundation in law and local practice that shaped his early professional path.
He joined Parr Richey Frandsen Patterson Kruse LLP in 2016. Since then he has been part of the firm’s attorney roster, handling matters that arise in both state and federal courts. His time at the firm has involved courtroom work and client representation across a range of disputes and transactional matters commonly seen in Indiana practice.
Deweese is licensed to practice in Indiana and is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. That federal admission allows him to take cases that move beyond state court, and he has experience filing and arguing matters in those tribunals. He also maintains membership in the Indiana State Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, a network that connects early-career attorneys around professional issues and continuing education.
Peers and colleagues describe him as steady and practical in the handling of cases. He tends to approach problems in a straightforward way, breaking complex matters into discrete steps for clients. He favors clear explanations over legal jargon, a habit that helps clients understand options and risks without becoming overwhelmed.
Outside formal filings and court appearances, Deweese has participated in professional activities typical for a lawyer building a general litigation and transactional practice. He has worked on pleadings, managed discovery, and prepared briefs for court consideration. Those day-to-day responsibilities form the backbone of his practice and reflect the hands-on work that many clients expect from their counsel.
He continues to work at Parr Richey Frandsen Patterson Kruse LLP, where he represents clients in both state court matters and cases in the federal district courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. He currently represents clients in matters before Indiana state courts and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
