About J. Corey
J. Corey Silverman studied film before he studied law. He earned a B.A. in Film Production and Screenwriting from the University of Central Florida in 1997. He returned to academics after law school and received an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida in 2005. His J.D. is from Stetson University College of Law, awarded in 2001. Those three degrees shaped a practice that mixes technical tax work and courtroom procedure.
After law school, Silverman built a practice that spans several federal and state forums. He has appeared in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the U.S. Tax Court. He is admitted in the Eleventh Circuit and practices in the Middle District of Florida. He also handles matters in Florida state courts and bankruptcy proceedings in the Middle District of Florida. The range of admissions reflects a career that traverses tax, bankruptcy, and litigation threads.
Silverman launched The Silverman Law Office, P.A. as a sole practitioner in 2008. He later joined Harper, Kynes, Geller & Greenleaf, P.A. as a senior lawyer in 2013. In 2020 he returned to private ownership and resurrected The Silverman Law Office, P.A. He has alternated between firm roles and independent practice, gaining experience in both environments.
His practice brings together tax training and litigation experience. The LL.M. in Taxation supports work that involves federal tax disputes and related federal litigation. He also handles bankruptcy matters at the court level. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and attentive to procedural detail. He balances court appearances with written advocacy in tax and bankruptcy settings.
Outside the courtroom, Silverman is active in local organizations. He serves on the Pinellas County Estate Planning Council and is a member of the Clearwater Bar Association. He is involved in Leadership Pinellas and participates in the Rotary Club of Dunedin Waterside. Those activities reflect a local orientation to professional and civic life.
Today he leads The Silverman Law Office, P.A., maintaining a practice that spans tax litigation, bankruptcy proceedings, and related civil litigation. He represents individuals and entities in federal and state forums, and he continues to handle matters in the U.S. Tax Court and Bankruptcy Court in the Middle District of Florida.
