About J. Brooks

J. Brooks Davis earned a B.S. in Finance from the University of South Carolina in Columbia before completing his J.D. at Charleston School of Law. He combined a business education with legal training, an arrangement that informs how he approaches both investigative and courtroom work.

Early in his career he established credentials in South Carolina and the federal appellate system, holding admission to practice in the state and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He maintains memberships in the American Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar Association and the Charleston County Bar Association, remaining active in the professional community where he practices.

Davis’s associations reflect the mix of matters that come through his doors. He serves as a panel lawyer for the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association and belongs to the National Business Aircraft Association and the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, connections that align him with clients involved in aviation and business-aircraft matters. He also participates in groups centered on criminal defense, including the National College for DUI Defense and the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and he is listed among members of national trial lawyer organizations.

Those affiliations have shaped a practice that touches both criminal defense and aviation-related legal issues. He handles DUI defense and other criminal matters at trial and tries cases that may proceed to appellate review. At the same time he counsels pilots, aircraft owners and operators on disputes that arise from operations, regulation and insurance, responding to the particular technical and regulatory demands of aviation work.

Colleagues describe Davis as someone who pairs practical financial training with courtroom focus. He draws on his finance background when a case calls for attention to contracts, insurance arrangements or business records, and he leans on trial experience when factual disputes must be resolved in court. Membership in national and local bar groups keeps him connected to updates in criminal law and aviation regulation.

He remains active in both state and federal practice and continues to accept cases that require trial advocacy or appellate handling. He currently concentrates his practice on criminal defense, DUI cases and aviation-related matters.
